Yucca cernua E.L. Keith. Common name: Weeping Yucca. Phenology: Late May-June. Habitat: Acidic clay soils, in prairie openings in and along margins of pine-hardwood forests, and adjacent rights-of-way primarily over Redco Soil Series Distribution: Endemic to e. TX (Hardin, Jasper, & Newton counties) and w. LA (Vernon Parish) (Singhurst et al. 2022).
ID notes: This species is recognized from other sympatric species by its relatively wide leaves with yellowish serrate margins and drooping inflorescence. It hybridizes with Yucca louisianensis in areas where they grow in proximity.
