Yucca treculiana Carrière. Common name: Spanish-dagger, Trécul’s Yucca, Palma Pita. Phenology: Feb-Apr. Habitat: Brushland, grasslands, and scrub. Distribution: E. and c. TX, s. NM, and s. AZ south to AGS, CHH, COA, DGO, NLE, QRO, SLP, TAM, VER).
ID notes: A tree, to at least 7 m tall.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: The species is named for Auguste Adolphe Lucien Trécul (1818-1896) and the epithet must therefore be spelled 'treculiana' rather than the incorrectly formed (but traditional) 'treculeana'.
