not marked as a favorite taxon Solidago canescens (Rydberg) Friesner. Common name: Plains Bold Goldenrod. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Upland prairies. Distribution: ON and AB south to MO, OK, TX (?), and NM.

Taxonomy Comments: This taxon includes only diploids (2n=18). It seems to warrant species rank, as Solidago canescens (Rydberg) Friesner, based on morphological distinctness and ploidy difference from Solidago rigida, with which it widely overlaps distribution.
