Platanthera blephariglottis (Willdenow) Lindley. Subgenus: Blephariglottis. Section: Blephariglottis. Small White Fringed Orchid. Phen: Jul-Sep. Hab: Seepages, sandhill-pocosin ecotones. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) west to MI and IL, south to GA.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Following Brown (2006b), it seems best to recognize the two white-fringed orchids as separate species; they are morphologically distinctive, and where they co-occur their blooming times are offset.
