Platanthera conspicua (Nash) P.M. Brown. Subgenus: Blephariglottis. Section: Blephariglottis. Large White Fringed Orchid. Phen: Jul-Sep. Hab: Pine savannas, seepages, longleaf pine sandhill-pocosin ecotones. Dist: NC south to c. peninsular FL, west to e. TX.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Brown (2006b) and Sheviak in FNA (2002a) clarify the taxonomy of this complex; previous studies (such as Hardin 1961) used different characters, and interpreted the white-fringed orchid taxa differently.
