not marked as a favorite taxon Sceptridium multifidum (S.G. Gmelin) M. Nishida. Common name: Leather Grapefern. Phenology: Aug-Sep. Habitat: Grassy balds and high elevation meadows; moist forests. Distribution: Newfoundland and Labrador (Labrador) and Alaska south New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio (and in the mountains to Virginia and North Carolina), Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, and California.
