Gentiana andrewsii Grisebach var. dakotica A. Nelson. Common name: Western Closed Bottle Gentian, Dakota Gentian. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Upland prairie, glades, forest openings. Distribution: MB and SK south through MN, ND, SD, w. IL, IA, and NE to s. MO.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: It is not clear that the "dakotica" entity is sister to G. andrewsii and should be associated with it at varietal rank.
