*Iris sanguinea Hornemann ex Donn. clade: Limniris. Common name: Japanese Iris, Blood Iris. Phenology: Apr-Jun; Jun-Aug. Habitat: Roadsides, cultivated and rarely escaped. Distribution: Native of Japan, n. China, Korea, Japan, and w. Russia. Reported for Cleburne County, AL by Spaulding & Triplett (2022), as I. sanguinea.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy : = K4; = Limniris sanguinea (Donn ex Hornem.) Rodion. — Crespo, Martínez-Azorín, & Mavrodiev (2015); = n/a — FNA26, RAB; < Iris sibirica L. — Boltenkov et al (2020). Basionym: Iris sanguinea Hornem. ex Donn 1813
