Epidendrum rigidum Jacquin. Stiff-flowered Star Orchid, Rigid Epidendrum. Phen: Oct-May (-Sep). Hab: Epiphytic on trees in dome swamps, strand swamps, sloughs, and rockland hammocks. Dist: S. FL; West Indies; Bermuda; South America.

ID notes:Epidendrum rigidum is distinct in having green-colored flowers arranged along a conspicuous, distichous inflorescence. A persistent (marcescent) perianth can often be seen on ovoid capsules.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Other Comments: This species is similarly as common as E. amphistomum in sloughs and swamps of s. FL but slightly less widespread.
