Heterotaxis sessilis (Swartz) F. Barros. Common name: False Butterfly Orchid, Hidden Orchid. Phenology: Sep-Jan. Habitat: Epiphytic in deep sloughs, often on bark of Annona glabra. Distribution: S. FL (Fakahatchee Strand, Collier County); West Indies; Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy : = K4, WI; = Heterotaxis crassifolia Lindl.; = Maxillaria crassifolia (Lindl.) Rchb.f. — FNA26, NS, POWO, WH3, Brown (2002), Schuiteman & Chase (2015); Epidendrum sessile Swartz. Basionym: Epidendrum sessile Sw. 1788
