Trollius laxus Salisbury. Trollflower, American Globeflower, Spreading Globeflower. Phen: Apr-May. Hab: Calcareous swamps and fens. Dist: Nw. CT, NY and ne. OH south to n. NJ, e. PA, w. PA, and c. OH.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: The western Trollius albiflorus is sometimes treated as an infrataxon (variety or subspecies) of T. laxus, but the morphological differences and distantly isolated distributions suggest species rank.
