Semple (2022) reports tetraploid (2n=36), pentaploid (2n=45), and hexaploid (2n=54) chromosome counts for var. pluricephala, with hexaploid counts across most of its distribution, except tetraploid counts in w. LA and TX; the lone pentaploid count is from s. TX.
