Oenothera filiformis (Small) W.L. Wagner & Hoch. Large-flowered Gaura, Biennial Gaura, Tall Gaura. Phen: Jun-Oct. Hab: Glades, prairies, woodlands, shell middens and calcareous hammocks, openings in bottomland forests, disturbed areas, especially over calcareous soils. Dist: MI, WI, MN, SD, and NE, south to AL, MS, LA, and s. TX.

ID notes:Often confused with O. gaura, but easily separated by its densely strigillose (vs. primarily spreading-villous) pubescence.
