Camassia Lindley. Common name: Wild Hyacinth, Quamash Lily, Camas Lily.
A genus of 6 species, of North America. The affinities of Camassia are with the Agavaceae, rather than the Hyacinthaceae (Fay & Chase 1996, Bogler & Simpson 1996, Speta in Kubitzki 1998a).
ID notes: Scapose perennial, bulbous plants with slightly fleshy linear leaves that emerge early in the spring. The numerous star-shaped flowers are arranged in racemes or spikes in shades of blue, purple, or white.
