Hab: Bogs and seeps, peaty pond margins, beaver meadows, southward at high elevations. Dist: NL (Newfoundland) to MB south to MN, PA, and in mountains south to NC and n. GA (stated as unverified in TN by Tennessee Flora Committee 2015); scattered in w. North America.
ID notes:Much like J. subcaudatus but with darker capsules and more stiffly erect inflorescence branches.

Taxonomy Comments: Knapp et al. [2022] discuss the priority of the name J. tweedyi over J. brevicaudatus.
