Triplasis purpurea (Walter) Chapman var. purpurea . Purple Sandgrass. Phen: (May-) Aug-Oct (-Nov). Hab: Dunes, maritime dry grasslands, open sandy areas. Dist: NH south to s. FL, and west to TX and e. Mexico (TAB, VER), along the coast; also around the Great Lakes, and in central United States.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Var. caribensis R.W. Pohl is in the New World tropics.
