not marked as a favorite taxon Larix laricina (Du Roi) K. Koch. Common name: Eastern Larch, Eastern Tamarack, Akemantak. Habitat: Bogs and swamps. Distribution: Newfoundland and Labrador (Newfoundland), Newfoundland and Labrador (Labrador), Keewatin, and Alaska, south to Maryland (Garrett County), West Virginia (Preston and Randolph counties), Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, and British Columbia. A single tree of unknown provenance is at the Beech Gap Overlook (milepost 423.3, Transylvania County, North Carolina) on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
