Desmodium fernaldii B.G. Schubert. Fernald's Tick-trefoil. Phen: Jun-Sep; Aug-Oct. Hab: Longleaf pine sandhills and dry flatwoods, other dry sandy habitats, basic mesic forest, woodland borders. Dist: Se. VA south to s. SC (and maybe e. GA and n. FL); Isely (1998) states that reports from the Gulf Coast are based on "glabrate forms of D. glabellum", and also suggests that D. fernaldii is only weakly differentiated from D. glabellum.
