Crataegus venusta Beadle. Red Mountain Hawthorn. Phen: Apr-May; Sep-Oct. Hab: Rocky woodlands, brush, cutover forests. Dist: C. AL and Grundy County, TN.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: A sparsely documented taxa in the Pulcherrimae series, C. venusta suggests affinity to the more restricted Appalachian taxa C. pallens Beadle, but fruits are typically red or ruddy.
