FAGACEAE

Quercus austrina Small. Bluff Oak. Phen: Apr; Oct (of the same year). Hab: River bluffs, mesic hammocks, dry hammocks, natural levees of brownwater rivers, over mafic rocks, on shell or calcareous sediments. Dist: Essentially a Southeastern Coastal Plain endemic: sc. NC south to n. FL and west to MS, and apparently disjunct in sw. AR.
