Echinodorus cordifolius (Linnaeus) Grisebach. Creeping Burhead. Phen: (May-) Jun-Nov. Hab: Swamps, ditches, wet thickets, especially on base-rich substrates, such as over calcareous or mafic rocks. Dist: MD south to c. peninsular FL, west to TX, south into tropical America (Mexico, South America, West Indies), and north in the interior (primarily in the Mississippi Embayment) to s. IL.
