Echinodorus cordifolius (Linnaeus) Grisebach. Creeping Burhead. Phen: (May-) Jun-Nov. Hab: Swamps, ditches, wet thickets, especially on base-rich substrates, such as over calcareous or mafic rocks. Dist: MD south to c. peninsular FL, west to TX, south into Mexico (CAM, SLP, TAM, VER, YUC), South America, West Indies), and north in the interior (primarily in the Mississippi Embayment) to s. IL.
