ID notes:Distinguished readily from L. sempervirens by its often pubescent stems (vs. glabrous).

Other Comments: Schweitzer & Larson (1999) reported on the physiological characteristics that make L. japonica a successful invasive species, namely morphological plasticity and climbing resource allocation.
