Kalmia hirsuta Walter. Hairy Wicky, Kalmiella. Phen: Jun-Jul; Sep-Oct. Hab: Pine savannas and pine flatwoods. Dist: Se. SC (Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton counties) south to nc. peninsular FL, west to s. AL.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: The closest relatives of K. hirsuta are three Cuban species: K. aggregata (Small) Copeland, K. ericoides Wright ex Grisebach, and K. simulata (Britton & Wilson) Southall.
