*Ipomoea batatilla (Kunth) G. Don. Bush Morning-glory. Phen: Nov-May (-Apr). Hab: Persistent from cultivation in suburban gardens, sandy soils of barrier islands. Dist: Native of w. Brazil and e. Bolivia.

Origin/Endemic status: South America

Taxonomy Comments: Disagreeing with Austin (1977), this taxon is evidently specifically distinct from I. carnea, based on different morphology, different habitat, and allopatric distribution. At species rank, the name with priority is I. batatilla (Kunth) G. Don, based on Convolvulus batatilla Kunth 1818 [1819], which has priority over I. fistulosa Martius ex Choisy 1845.

Synonymy: = Ipomoea carnea Jacq. ssp. fistulosa (Mart. ex Choisy) D.F.Austin – Bah, Fl6, FNA14, K3, K4, Meso4.2, WH3, WI, Austin & Huáman (1996), Austin (1977), Austin (1984), Wood et al (2020b); = Ipomoea fistulosa Mart. ex Choisy – RAB, S
