Alkekengi officinarum Moench. Chinese-lantern Plant. Phen: Jun-Jul. Hab: Disturbed suburban areas, persistent or very slightly naturalizing from horticultural use. Dist: Native of Japan, Korea, and n. China. Commonly cultivated as an ornamental and occasionally naturalized in e. North America, as at scattered locations in TN (Chester, Wofford, & Kral 1997).

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
