Erigeron quercifolius Lamarck. Oak-leaved Fleabane. Phen: Apr-Jun. Hab: Sandy roadsides, disturbed areas. Dist: Se. VA south to s. FL, west to FL Panhandle; Bahamas. Nesom (2006bb) pointed out that putative records from further west are based on misidentifications.

Intro: Erect annual/biennial/short-lived perennial of sandy roadsides, clearings and other open, disturbed areas.

Stems: Stems slender, branched above, hairy.

Leaves: Basal leaves in a rosette up to 6 in. wide, oblong-lance-shaped to oblong-oval, to 5 in. long, wavy-margined to lobed (reminiscent of oak leaves); stem leaves few, alternate, sessile-clasping, shorter and often lobed.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Composite flowers (heads) 1-many on terminal branches, about 1/4 in. wide, consisting of many very narrow, bluish-lavender to white ray florets surrounding a yellow center disk composed of tiny, tubular florets.
