not marked as a favorite taxon Pityopsis ruthii (Small) Small. Common name: Ruth’s Goldenaster. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Flood-scoured rocks along rivers. Distribution: Restricted to rocks within the flood zone of the Hiwassee and Ocoee rivers, Polk County, Tennessee; it should be sought in adjacent sw. North Carolina.
