Key to Elytraria

A genus of about 17 species, of tropical and warm temperate regions of the Western and Eastern Hemispheres. Elytraria is a member of the subfamily Nelsonioideae, the basal group in the Acanthaceae (Wenk & Daniel 2009).

ID notes:The basal leaves lay flat on the ground and are distinctive in their very deeply rugose, 3D texturing. The "scaly stem" is distinctive, with overlapping acuminate bracts cladding the stem.
