ORCHIDACEAE

Orthochilus ecristatus (Fernald) Bytebier. Spiked Medusa, Smooth-lipped Eulophia. Phen: Jun-Sep; Jul-Nov. Hab: Mesic pinelands with blackjack oak, other sandhills and dry-mesic to mesic longleaf pinelands, also (southwards) in spodosol wet-mesic pine flatwoods, dry-prairies, and disturbed wet pastures. Dist: Se. NC south to FL, west to LA; West Indies (Cuba).
