Sporobolus indicus (Linnaeus) R. Brown. Smut Grass, Blackseed. Phen: (Jan-) Jul-Oct (-Dec). Hab: Low prairies and swales, roadsides, lawns, disturbed situations. Dist: Pantropical and subtropical, its original distribution apparently in the New World tropics, but obscured by its weedy capabilities and sometimes considered introduced in whole or in part in our area.
