*Lythrum hyssopifolia Linnaeus. Annual Loosestrife. Phen: Jun-Sep. Hab: Salt marshes, other wet soils; probably only adventive from Eurasia, but sometimes interpreted as native from ME to NJ. Dist: Probably native only in Eurasia; present in North America in the northeast and on the west coast.

Taxonomy Comments: The epithet is capitalized in Linnaeus (1753), indicating that it should be considered a noun in apposition and the ending retained: "hyssopifolia".
