Dist: Se. VA, se. NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, n. AR, s. MO, and OK south to s. FL, s. TX, Mexico; West Indies.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: Although Graham (1975) argues that L. lanceolatum should be reduced to a variety of L. alatum, her evidence can also be interpreted (and is here) as warranting specific status.
