Taxonomy Comments: A. pycnocarpa and A. adpressipilis are related to but clearly specifically distinct from A. hirsuta (Linnaeus) Scopoli of Europe and A. eschscholtziana Andrzejowski of w. North America. Al-Shebbaz (2017) discusses the rationale for treating A. pycnocarpa and A. adpressipilis at species rank.
