Marshallia mohrii Beadle & F.E. Boynton. Common name: Coosa Barbara's-buttons. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Sandstone, limestone, and dolostone glades, calcareous prairies. Distribution: Nw. GA and n. and c. AL (occurring as far south as Bibb County at the southern tip of the Ridge and Valley).

ID notes: Marshallia mohrii somewhat resembles M. grandiflora and M. pulchra, but typically has 2-10 heads per plant (it can also have solitary heads in depauperate individuals). It can be distinguished by its phyllaries with acute apices and leaves with a greater L:W ratio (6-25 cm long x 0.8-3 mm wide) vs. M. obovata, which has obtuse phyllary apices and leaves with a lower L:W ratio (5-10 cm long x 5-15 mm wide).
