Rudbeckia subtomentosa Pursh. Common name: Sweet Coneflower. Phenology: Jul-Sep. Habitat: Moist to dry woodlands, prairies, disturbed areas. Distribution: MI, IA, and OK south to nc. TN (Tennessee Flora Committee 2015), MS and TX; eastward as introductions or possibly disjuncts. Known for NC only from a single 1897 specimen from Hollow Rock, Orange Co. NC; probably an introduction.
