Cucumis Linnaeus. Common name: Canteloupe, Muskmelon, Cucumber.
A genus of ca. 55 species, herbaceous vine, native of the Old World (but see discussion under C. melo var. texanus). Infrageneric classification follows Schaefer (2007).
