Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: The taxonomic identity of plants of the Utricularia amethystina complex found in s. FL is poorly understood. Following taxonomic work by Baleeiro et al. (2022), Baleeiro, Jobson, & Sano (2016), Baleeiro, Sano, & Jobson (2019), and Guedes (2021), the broad treatment of Utricularia amethystina by Taylor (1989) is no longer tenable. Presumptively, we consider the historic populations in s. FL to be plausibly included in U. trinervia, but they may represent a different segregate of U. amethystina s.l., including perhaps being a Florida endemic (previously named as Calpidisca standleyae, which lacks a valid name in the genus Utricularia (see synonymy).
