Festuca saximontana Rydberg var. saximontana. Common name: Rocky Mountain Fescue. Habitat: High-elevation, boreal ledges and crevices. Distribution: Long Island (historical), north to n. NY, VT, and ON, westward. Known historically from Long Island, NY; this species is now extant in NY further north at only a few sites in high-elevation boreal sites (Werier 2022).
