Maianthemum stellatum (Linnaeus) Link. Common name: Starry Solomon's-plume, Starflower. Phenology: Apr-Jun; Aug-Oct. Habitat: Alluvial forests, calcareous fens, seepage swamps. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) west to BC, south to NJ, w. VA, e. TN, IN, MO, CA, and n. Mexico (CHH, COA, NLE, SON).

Flowers: Flowers 6-15 in a spike-like, terminal raceme; white; 1/4 in. long; consisting of 6 tepals and 6 stamens with pale yellow tips.

Fruits: Fruit a round berry, at first green with red stripes but turning solid red-purple.
