Scleria georgiana Core. Common name: Georgia Nutrush. Phenology: Jun-Aug. Habitat: Pine savannas, cypress savannas, depression meadows, mostly on the outer Coastal Plain. Distribution: E. NC south to s. FL, west to TX; and in the West Indies, Central and South America.
ID notes: In Scleria georgiana, the stems are slender, 1.5 feet tall, with small terminal spikelet clusters. It closely resembles S. baldwinii, but it differs in being smaller in nearly all aspects, including seeds (2-3 mm long vs. 3-4 mm long in S. baldwinii).
