Aristida gyrans Chapman. Corkscrew Three-awn. Phen: Oct-Jan. Hab: Scrubby flatwoods and other dry pinelands, open sandy firelanes. Dist: E. GA and w. Panhandle FL, south to s. FL. In Bryan, Long, and Montgomery counties in e. GA (Sorrie 1998b), and in wc. GA (J. Allison, pers. comm.).

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: In peninsular FL, this species occurs in more xeric sands than A. beyrichiana, and often on grey or white sands compared to the yellow sand preference of A. condensata.
