Salsola kali Linnaeus var. caroliniana (Walter) Nuttall. Southern Saltwort. Phen: Jun-frost. Hab: Upper beaches, fore-dunes, and island-end flats, rarely inland in disturbed areas. Dist: MA to FL, west to TX and Mexico; Eurasia, n. Africa; introduced on the west coast of North America. Often considered to be introduced in North America, but it may well be a native.
