Evolvulus Linnaeus. Dwarf Morning-glory.
Contributed by Keith A. Bradley and Alan S. Weakley
A genus of about 100 species, of tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate America.
ID notes: the inflorescence is technically a pedunculate dichasium, with 2 bracteoles at the summit of the peduncle (which is sometimes reduced or absent), each with a lateral branch in its axil, these branches (pedicels) each bearing a flower. The "peduncle + pedicel" (in the key) combination may elongate in fruit and in species keyed as shorter "stalked" may be longer than the subtending leaf in fruiting specimens.
