Solidago Linnaeus. Goldenrod.

Key to Solidago

A genus of 100-120 species, herbs, primarily North American, but with a few species in South America, Macaronesia, and Eurasia. The placement of the "flat-topped goldenrods" has been controversial; they are sometimes excluded from Solidago and treated as a related genus, Oligoneuron. Semple et al. (2023) and Semple & Beck (2023) clarified the phylogeny and infrageneric classification of Solidago, with a system employed here -- including Oligoneuron in Solidago.
