Orchidaceae
Prosthechea
Prosthechea Knowles & Westcott.
A genus of about 120 species, epiphytic herbs, of the Neotropics. Tieira, Salazar, & van den Berg (2024) reassessed the phylogeny of Prosthechea and relatives, and defended a broad circumscription of the genus, including such previous segregates as Hormidium. We follow their circumscription, and use their clade names.
Subfamily: Epidendroideae. Subtribe: Laeliinae.References: Brown (2002); Correll (1950); Hágsater (2002a) In Flora of North America Editorial Committee (2002a). Show full citations.
